British Painter Francis Bacon’s Monaco Ties Highlighted in Exhibition

“I love it, and find it very good for pictures falling ready-made into the mind,” remarked British painter Francis Bacon when he began visiting Monaco. The principality was Bacon’s main country of residence from the mid-1940s to the early 1950s. To celebrate this long association, Monaco’s Grimaldi Forum, in Avenue Princesse Grace, is staging Bacon: Monaco and French Culture. On show are a series of the painter’s triptychs and lesser-known works that illustrate his ties to Monaco and France. The exhibits come from public and private collections.
