Vivian Kong, known as the “Queen of Swords,” is an Olympic fencer representing Hong Kong. She began her athletic journey at age 11, initially training in ballet and taekwondo, where she earned a black belt. Seeking a new challenge, her father encouraged her to try fencing. Fast forward to the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she achieved gold medal status, marking a significant milestone for Hong Kong in the sport. Kong follows a vegan diet to enhance her recovery and minimise the risk of injury. Beyond her athletic prowess, she boasts an impressive academic background, having graduated from Stanford University with a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations. She further pursued a Master’s in law at Renmin University of China while in Hong Kong. Recently, Kong announced her retirement from professional fencing, allowing her to take a well-deserved break after a remarkable career.
