Serruria Leung, also known as Serrini, is a singer-songwriter based in Hong Kong. Growing up, she listened to Cantopop but was shocked by the one-dimensional portrayal of women in many of the songs. She wanted to create music that is liberating and empowering for both female listeners and artists. Pursuing her passion for music, she has become one of Hong Kong’s most prominent independent artists with her avant-grande style bringing new energy into the city’s music scene. Holding a PhD in Hong Kong Studies, Leung is able to convey topics of self-empowerment and self-expression through her songs. Her latest Mandarin album, True Love, is a mellow reflection on the longing for genuine connection and the importance of self-awareness. She often encourages her fans to analyse her lyrics more closely and gain a deeper understanding of the message hidden within.
