The McDonald’s Gold Card: free food for life

A lifetime supply of McDonalds? Yes please. The fast-food giant has announced that one very lucky contestant will be able to get their hands on a McGold Card by entering their contest starting August 29th (sorry, only available in America). The winner will receive a personal 24-carat gold-plated phone case in their name and 2 meals per week for 50 years. The total value of the prize is actually only US$52,000, so while it’s a lot of money, it’s certainly nothing to write home about also, at 2 meals a week, you can barely say that this counts as ‘food for life’. Admittedly though, it’s a great PR stunt and judging by the production value fo their promo video, McDonald’s knows this too.

Although not confirmed, it’s actually been reported that celebrities such as Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and even Rob Lowe own gold cards, however, it seems that until now, non-celebrities couldn’t own one.
