Tokyo’s Mori Art Museum’s Novel Survey of the Universe and Mankind

The Universe and Art at Mori Art Museum runs until January 9

If you see only one exhibition this year, make it this one. The Universe and Art at Tokyo’s Mori Art Museum considers the human concern with matters universal and their appearance as objects of worship. On show is a diverse selection of about 200 items from around the globe. There are meteorites and fossils, types of paraphernalia for astronomy used by Da Vinci and Galileo, mandalas, art installations and the latest from the space frontier. The exhibition has four sections: looking at how humans through the ages have viewed the universe; the universe as space-time; whether aliens exist; and space travel and the future of humanity. The exhibition runs until January 9 and is a novel survey of the cosmos and mankind.
