Paris’ Newest Attraction: A Pigalle Basketball Court

Pigalle has returned to Paris’ 9th arrondissement, to overhaul (again) an irregularly shaped basketball court sandwiched between two buildings.

The Parisian-based brand, lead by basketball aficionado Stephane Ashpool, originally painted the Instagram-perfect Duperré court in 2009, in a partnership with Nike and Ill-Studio. The result was celebration of the geometric, with large blocks of primary colours, an homage to the 1930s suprematist work, Sportsmen by Kasimir Malevich.

The trio graced the court once more this week to mark the release of the collaboration between Pigalle and NikeLab – a basketball-inspired Spring/Summer 2017 collection. The space, where Ashpool regularly trains with local children, has been completely transformed, with gradients of 80s-esque purples, pink and orange hues. It’s hard to miss, and even harder to resist (see all the images on HighSnobiety.com) – if you’re in Paris, you’ll need to stop by.

The Pigalle x NikeLab Spring/Summer 2017 collection will be available at select NikeLab retailers on July 1.
