The Hong Kong vegetarian burger challenge

The vegetarian burger craze isn’t slowing down. We’ve had some solid classics for a while thanks to OG plant-based spot MANA! but thanks to the likes of Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods, you can pretty much get a decent (and environmentally-conscious) vegetarian burger no matter where you are in the city. We had some of Hong Kong’s burger lovers try to tell the difference between Beyond Burger’s 100% vegan burger and a normal beef burger with a taste test at The Butchers Club last year — but what about plant-based versus plant-based burger?

We had Hong Kong foodies Erika Wai of @hongkongfoodie, Rose Chiu of @fatasslovesfood and Angel Law of @thewanderingchopsticks to taste three of Hong Kong’s most popular burgers, Beef & Liberty’s Impossible Thai burger (Impossible’s plant-based patty, chilli, coriander, mint, basil, spring onion, soya mayonnaise, crispy shallots and garlic), MANA!’s Classic Burger (halloumi, roasted veggies, portobello mushroom and pickled cucumber) and Green Common’s The Beyond Burger Deluxe (Beyond Burger plant-based patty with rocket, tomato, mushroom and black truffle sauce), with the #legend team.
