The xx takes over Hong Kong’s Asia-World Expo

The xx played a stunning sold-out show last night in Hong Kong’s Asia-World Expo. The English trio – comprised of Romy Madley Scott, Oliver Sim and Jamie xx – are on their Asia tour, covering everywhere from Thailand, China, Japan and South Korea. Hitting up Hong Kong’s biggest stadium, the trio stunned the crowd with hits such as “VCR,” “On Hold” and “Intro.”

Their last show in the city was five years ago in 2013, which sold out as well. Since then, the trio has released their latest album I See You (2017), and Jamie xx released his solo effort In Colour (2015), which included hits such as “Loud Places” and “I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)” featuring Young Thug and Popcaan. This time around, the electro-indie pop band applied their dreamy sounds and smooth vocals to a poppier, more beat-driven sound in I See You. In our exclusive interview with The xx, the trio mention that they couldn’t wait to be back in Hong Kong, and that “Hong Kong seems like the melting pot in the centre of Asia. We loved playing here last time.” Well, we’re sure yesterday’s crowd didn’t disappoint.

Following their Hong Kong tour stop, the trio will be heading to Beijing, Taipei, the Philippines, Japan and South Korea. For tour dates and stops, check out the band’s website
