5 luxe private venues to rent for your next bash

Obviously this isn't in Hong Kong, but the sentiment is the same: a good venue = a great party

Hong Kong apartments are the dirge of any hostess-at-heart (or host, we’re all about gender equality here). How are you supposed to tap into your inner Martha Stewart in 300 square feet, with no counter space? If you’re planning a ‘do and want to impress your crew, take things out of the residential and into the experiential. What does that mean exactly? It means private venues. There’s no shortage of incredible spaces to rent out, no matter the guest list or occasion. Want to plan a cosy dinner party for your nearest and dearest? There’s a space for that. Holding a blowout for 300, there’s a place for that. And we’re not talking about cramped private rooms in restaurants – we mean truly private, all-yours venues. The kind of places you can make your home for the night, and plan your ultimate party.

We’ve rounded up a few of our favourite private venues in Hong Kong that you can rent for birthday parties, anniversaries, or more below. Happy planning!

House of Madison

Just one of the many spaces in House of Madison

This groundbreaking venue was designed to literally look like a modern home. It’s described as a ‘multi-use retail playground for thinkers and tinkerers, artists and artisans’, and we don’t disagree. Spanning a full three-stories this house within a building has multiple spaces to fit your needs, like a wine tasting room, balcony lounge and multiple entertaining spaces. A retail space by nature, it’s also a great opportunity to check out some of the greatest and latest kitchen equipment and furniture on the market for your ‘real’ home refurbs.

Test Kitchen

A peak inside the customisable Test Kitchen, which comes complete with full kitchen

We first fell in love with this space when One Star House Party came to town over the summer, and now we’re wondering when we can book it out for ourselves. The premise of Test Kitchen, a three-storey space in Sai Ying Pun, is to give talented, undiscovered chefs an opportunity to cook for guests without the upfront capital required to open their own restaurant. The facility has a full kitchen, and room for plenty – you can hire a chef, and decorate the place to your liking. A few fairy lights are really all you need to get that chic, warehouse vibe – very Brooklyn.

Entertainment Suite

The stunning Entertainment Suite at the Landmark Mandarin Oriental

Our feelings about the Landmark Mandarin’s ridiculous Entertainment Suite are well documented – check out our full review here. In a word, it’s amazing. A hotel room only on paper, it’s more like the chicest apartment you’ve ever been too – kitted out with a full, state of the art kitchen, dining area, and entertainment nucleus. It’s honestly one of the most versatile spaces we know of, good for cocktail parties, family ‘staycations’, product launches, birthday parties, sit down dinners and even stag do’s. The giant television and fully stocked pantry (and bar, and wine on tap…) mean it’s a gamers paradise. Or you can go the fancy route and have one of the hotel’s chefs cater you a meal to remember, before hitting up the wine tap of course.

Cuore

Take over the home of chef Andrea's home for the night

Meaning ‘heart’ in Italian, this private kitchen is the indie studio of your dreams – dripping with fairy lights and Persian rugs, surrounded by overladen bookshelves and African masks adding even more character. It is a private kitchen, but it’s also the chef’s own home – full of his travel mementos, art collections and books. Chef Andrea is conservative with his bookings – only one group at a time, only three nights a week and only six months out of the year. Which means, if you score this venue for your event it’s guaranteed to be the talk of your friends for months to come. The space can accommodate up to forty guests, who will be treated to a four-course family-style Italian dinner, rich with regional traditions and freshly imported ingredients. It’s like your Nonna is cooking, but a little bit cooler.

The Presidential Suite

Inside the sprawling The Presidential Suite

Another dazzling hotel option, The Presidential Suite in the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong is pure old-school glamour with top-floor views over Victoria Harbour and Kowloon. It has a grand foyer for receiving guests, a luxurious living room for entertaining and a formal dining room that can seat up to 12. If you want to celebrate with a bigger crowd, you can invite up to thirty people in for a buffet spread or cocktail party. The Presidential Suite has the high-tech amenities you’d expect, like a 65-inch LED screen television, DVD player, stereo and more – but with that view, you won’t be using them. The hotel is incredibly accommodating, and they can re-arrange or even remove furniture depending on your preferred set-up. You’ll need to rent the space overnight, but once you see the stunning marble bathroom you might book in for a second evening. Not that you need an extra perk with this, but the room does come with butler service!

Campfire Creative

Campfire Creative's chic, open-plan venue in Wong Chuk HangThe world is going crazy for co-working spaces, and believe it or not, they’re a great option for a private event. We love Campfire for work-related events because each of their venues are industry specific. Our hearts are set on their fashion-focused venue in Wung Chuk Hang.
