Conscious Couture: A Fashion Show For a Cause

The American Women's Association of Hong Kong Presents Conscious Couture

The American Women’s Association of Hong Kong is putting on Conscious Couture this Wednesday at the American Club in Tai Tam, the last of a series of fundraisers done this year to support local charities that benefit at risk women, children, the elderly and the disabled.

The show highlights the work of up-and-coming sustainable designers, with an emphasis on local artists, and dispels any notion of eco-friendly fashion being boring. Stunning Rania Hatoum Bridal dresses, made from recycled pineapple leaves and spun silk, are hand-woven in the Philippines to give impoverished women a steady income, while Emi & Eve jewellery supports that age-old saying, ’all that glitters is not gold’ with their brass bombshell accessories. Crafted by Cambodian artisans, the dramatic pieces do more than provide sustainable livelihoods, they support the process of reclaiming land from forgotten landmines which continue to ravage the countryside.

Find a new favourite designer and be inspired by their eco-lifestyle at the upcoming event, tickets are on sale now.

April 26, 6:30-10pm, American Club Tai Tam. Tickets available from www.awa.org.hk
