Children’s Medical Foundation Inaugural Charity Golf Day

What: The Inaugural CMF Golf Day
When: May 19, 2017
Where: Clear Water Bay Golf and Country Club

Children’s Medical Foundation’s (CMF) inaugural Charity Golf Tournament was held at the Clear Water Bay Golf and Country Club. The first event of its kind for the charity, 22 teams competed, and 185 guests joined for the Awards dinner, raising over HKD1,100,000 for neonatal care programs throughout China.

The funds raised went directly to the launch of CMF’s flagship program: A Life Saving Program for Rural Newborns, in Honghe prefecture, Yunnan province, China. Babies born in these less developed areas are unfortunately dying from common birth conditions that are easily preventable. Support from the Charity Golf Day is helping to equip rural doctors and nurses with proper medical skills in emergency baby care, as well as financial assistance to rural families living in extreme poverty, giving countless babies a better chance at life.

Founded in 1995, CMF first founded the Shanghai Children’s Medical Center (SCMC), one of China’s leading pediatric training hospitals in neonatology, oncology and cardiology. Over the past 22 years, the organisation has been tirelessly devoted to advancing medical technologies in China’s undeveloped areas, working to ensure the safety and health of new born babies throughout the country. Since their inception, they’ve gone on to train 3,374 rural doctors and nurses, perform 173 life-saving surgeries, supply financial assistence to 326 infants, and establish a network of 32 neonatal intensive care units at partner hospitals in 12 provinces. Over 40,000 children have directly benefited from their care over the past two decades.
